Special Session 3
Optimization,
Control and Protection of Renewable Energy
Renewable energy, especially wind and solar, has
been quickly developed and integrated into modern
power systems and will become the main power sources
in future. However, high nonlinearities and
uncertainties are inherent property of renewable
energy resulted from the use of power electronics
and stochastic weather conditions, which inevitably
bring in numerous issues including stability,
control, operation and protection. As a result, it
is very crucial to develop effective and efficient
optimization methods to increase the relatively low
generation efficiency, as well as advanced control
schemes to achieve a stable operation of renewable
energy. Besides, advanced protection strategies also
play a paramount role to guarantee its reliable
operation. Hence, this special session aims to
investigate advanced optimization, control and
protection design of renewable energy.
